Uncapping knife

A knife used to remove the layer of wax covering the honeycombs. This keeps the wax intact and allows the frames to be reused immediately in the hives. To make cutting the wax easier, it is suggested to dip the blade in hot water just before use.

Smooth or serrated blade.
