This hands-on beekeeping course allows aspiring hobbyist beekeepers to put their knowledge into practice before receiving their first bees. It's also a valuable course for beekeepers with a season's experience, as it allows them to perfect their beekeeping skills.

This will be a perfect opportunity to handle bees, familiarize yourself with beekeeping tools, and ask any questions you may have. Group sizes are limited to facilitate learning.

This practical training does not replace theoretical training and it is mandatory to have basic knowledge of beekeeping to participate!

During the 3-hour training, the following elements will be covered:

  • Light the smoker
  • Transferring a nucleus to a new hive
  • Identify the 3 castes of bees and their stages of development (egg, larva, nymph, queen cell)
  • Handle colonies properly to reduce the risk of stings
  • All stages of colony inspection
  • The screening method by natural fall and the wash to alcohol

INFORMATION

  • The training takes place in our educational apiary located in Lac-Saint-Charles (Quebec) from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Price per person.
  • In case of rain, the training will be postponed to the following weekend;
