Coreopsis tinctoria - Seeds produced by Achene.

Dyer's coreopsis (Coreopsis tinctoria) is an annual plant native to prairies and British Columbia, but commonly grown in eastern Canada for its abundant blooms. It produces numerous small, bright yellow flowers with a distinct burgundy-red center that bloom from midsummer through fall. These flowers add a vibrant splash of color to naturalistic gardens and wildflower displays. The plant grows to about 50 cm tall and prefers well-drained soil in full sun. Dyer's coreopsis is an ideal choice for flower meadows and pollinator gardens, attracting a wide variety of beneficial insects.

Ecological roles
The dyer's coreopsis plays an important role in promoting biodiversity. Its nectar-rich flowers attract a wide range of pollinators, including bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects. This plant contributes to balanced ecosystems by providing a food source throughout its long blooming period. Due to its rapid growth and ability to thrive in poor soils, the dyer's coreopsis is ideal for restoring prairies and disturbed habitats. Additionally, it can be used in ecological gardening projects to improve soil health and prevent erosion, while adding a vibrant, colorful aesthetic to landscapes.

Sowing and cultivation
Dyer's coreopsis seeds do not require any special treatment before sowing.

Simply sow 3mm deep and keep the soil moist during germination, which should take around ten days.

You can start seeds indoors 3 to 5 weeks in advance or sow outdoors after the last frost.
