Seeds grown in Quebec from 4 native species, 8 square meters of beauty, successive blooms from May to October!
Invite nature into your yard with this unique set, designed to actively support local biodiversity while enjoying a vibrant and colorful garden. Each of the four species blooms successively from May to October to ensure a constant supply of nectar for pollinators.
The box contains the seeds of 4 carefully selected native species :
• Canadian columbine ( Aquilegia canadensis ), An elegant perennial with red and yellow bell-shaped flowers that attract hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies. Growing equally well in shady undergrowth or on sunny slopes, it stabilizes soils and contributes to biodiversity.
• Monarda fistulosa ( Monarda fistulosa ), a spectacular, fragrant, and beautiful native perennial. Monarda fistulosa is also an edible and medicinal plant that attracts many pollinators and hummingbirds. With its scent reminiscent of citrus, thyme, and oregano, it is used in infusions or to color and brighten your dishes. As a medicinal plant, it is valued for its expectorant and antiseptic properties.
• Tuberous milkweed ( Asclepias tuberosa subsp. tuberosa ). Like its cousin, common milkweed, butterfly weed is a crucial plant for the monarch butterfly, whose caterpillars feed exclusively on milkweed. However, this one is less aggressive and is better suited to smaller spaces. It produces splendid, bright orange flowers in umbels atop stems of narrow, glossy green leaves.
• New England Aster ( Symphyotrichum novae-angliae ). A perennial native to Quebec, this late-flowering plant attracts butterflies and is a valuable late-season food source for many insects. Producing an impressive quantity of beautiful purplish-mauve flowers with yellow centers, it will also be used to fill a riparian strip or naturalize sloping land.
Each of the four containers contains enough seeds to cover 2 m² , or 8 m² in total . You will also find:
• A instruction booklet detailed to help you succeed in your sowing.
• A bag of vermiculite , a substrate for cold stratification of seeds. (No worries, everything is explained in detail in the booklet!)
